Local Deals, Steals and Things to Do

From girls nights to great restaurants, this Canton newlywed plans to share her perspective about anything and everything local.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Local Voices initiative launched by the Canton-Sixes Patch. As one of the Local Voices, I hope to keep you informed of all things local (& sometimes things not-so-local) that might be of interest to all of you living in Canton.

As my first blog post, I thought I’d share a little bit about myself and my life here in Canton. I just turned 26, grew up in Gainesville, Ga. and moved to Canton three years ago. I attended North Georgia College & State University in beautiful Dahlonega, Ga. for the first two years. This is also where I met my husband, Austin. I graduated with a degree in public relations from the University of Georgia.

Austin is the part owner of Premier Pool Enterprises, LLC. He and his business partner Jason Smith manage residential and commercial pools, pool construction and recently opened Premier Pool Supply, LLC located off of Sixes Road. If you are in the market for a new pool, pool supplies, a hot tub, or a Primo grill, then go check them out! Tell them I sent you and they may even give you a percentage off.

Austin and I were recently married on November 20, 2010. We were supposed to get married in St. Lucia but unfortunately a hurricane hit the island the night before we were to fly out. Fortunately we had purchased traveler’s insurance. So advice to anyone planning a trip in the Caribbean during hurricane season…purchase traveler’s insurance!

We went to Miami instead and came home to plan an impromptu wedding ceremony right before our already-planned reception for friends and family.

Who says you can’t plan a wedding in a week?

Austin and I spend much of our free time with family and friends. We love to go and do, listen to live music, have the neighbors over for a cook out, and try new restaurants. But it’s our favorites that keep us coming back (like )!

When we aren’t attending weddings and throwing showers, we enjoy traveling. I just got back from a short visit to Asheville, NC. It was a fabulous weekend but it sure was nice to have my Sunday afternoon at home. I wasn’t in town 30 minutes before I had a craving for . If you haven’t tasted this home cooked food then you’re missing out! It’s located on Highway 5 (off of exit 20 on I-575). Make a trip for breakfast or lunch. You won’t be disappointed.
