Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services has deemed its campaign to collect toys for Atlanta Toys for Tots a success.

The agency, which held a collection drive at each fire station between Dec. 1 and Dec. 18, said a representative with the Marine Corps told the county it collected between $12,000 and $15,000 worth of toys for the initiative.

"Words cannot describe the outpouring of love, generosity, teamwork, support and dedication that this entire fire department has shown for the children who are in need this year," said Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather.
