Report: Canton Named Best Place In Georgia

Movoto Real Estate ranked 81 cities with populations over 10,000 by reviewing amenities, quality of life, crime, weather, tax rates, unemployment and commute time.

The company that ranked Canton the fourth most affordable place to live has released a study that shows the city is the best place in Georgia. 

Movoto Real Estate, a real estate research blog, ranked the city based on total amenities, quality of life, crime, weather, tax rates, unemployment and commute time.

The company looked at cities with population over 10,000, which left them with 81 cities in Georgia to review. The company reviewed the aforementioned categories from U.S. Census Bureau data.

The company notes Canton is the "quintessence" of a small southern city, and has a slew of events and variety of restaurants to offer residents.

Furthermore, the city ranked high due to its unemployment rate (7.7 percent), "a crime rate 49 percent lower than the rest of Georgia and a sales tax of just 6 percent." 

The city of Woodstock came in eighth. The complete list includes:

4. Alpharetta

6. Fayetteville
7. Duluth
8. Woodstock

10. Kennesaw*
10. Gainesville*

*Kennesaw and Gainesville tied for 10th place. 

For Woodstock, Movoto noted its residents make a median household income of just over $64,000 and the city's median home and rent prices are 50 and 47 percent higher than the state's median.

"As our analysis showed, Woodstock’s historic downtown isn’t just packed with charm," the report notes "It’s also packed with amenities. From Century House Tavern to some of the best southern barbecue in the city at J. Miller’s, Woodstock is brimming with local flavor."
