Seniors Riley Jenkins and Cynda Tate both won $1,000 scholarships from Waste Management.

Two Creekview High School students will have some help paying for their college education.

Seniors Riley Jenkins and Cynda Tate were recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent Dr. Frank Petruzielo on May 1 as the 2014 Waste Management Scholarship winners.

The board has a partnership with Waste Management that specifies that two scholarships per year, each in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded to seniors attending Creekview High School.

Applications were solicited via the high school counseling staff, the district's website and through local media, and were forwarded to the Waste Management Scholarship Committee for consideration.

This committee, consisting of Waste Management and community representatives and a school district facilitator, reviewed and scored the applications and determined that the $1,000 scholarships should be awarded to Riley and Cynda.
