Chalk Spot - Marietta Art in the Park

Art in the Park takes place Labor Day weekend August 30 - September 1, 2014. Guests flock to the historic neighborhood year after year to visit the Artist Market, enjoy the Children’s Art Alley, see the famous Painted Pots and partake of historic sites and nearby dining.

The Chalk Spot – a street chalk art competition for children in kindergarten through 12thgrade is scheduled for Saturday, August 30 during the annual Art in the Park Festival in downtown Marietta. Participants will have the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind designs in 3-foot square spaces. The art will remain on display throughout the festival-weather permitting. Registration is recommended and a discount will be offered for those who submit their application postmarked by August 13th. All registered participants will receive a 30 count box of chalk, certificate of participation and a “goodie bag”.

Proceeds will benefit the Marietta High School Art Club. Susan Pritchard, Art Club Advisor “is very excited about the opportunity for the club members to help produce the competition and is equally excited for the additional funds, which will be used for art show prize money”. The event is sponsored by Life University, Blick Art Supplies and co-produced by Marietta Art in the Park, Marietta High School and the High School Art Club. The event is free to watch and free parking is available in the Cobb County parking decks located on Waddell St.
