It appears voters in Georgia's State House District 22 will have a new face to represent them under the Gold Dome.

Unofficial results show Wes Cantrell will most likely win the election to serve the people of the district in the July 22 Republican primary runoff race.

Cantrell, a minister at First Baptist Church of Woodstock, defeated fellow challenger and Creekview High School teacher Meagan Biello in the race.

With two out of three counties reporting results, Cantrell has so far received 69 percent, or 4,292 votes compared to Biello's 31 percent, or 1,961 votes.

If those results hold in Cantrell's favor, he will succeed incumbent State Rep. Sam Moore, who did not receive enough votes in the May 20 Republican primary to advance to the runoff.

District 22, which represents parts of Cherokee, Forsyth and north Fulton counties, was vacated in late 2013 with the passing of former State Rep. Calvin Hill.

Biello, who also ran for the seat in the January 2014 special election, thanked her supporters on her Facebook page for their efforts on her campaign.

"Even though the results are not what we hoped for, this has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life," she added. "I am very humbled by all of the support and continued prayers. As I sit here with some of my most adamant supporters, I am nothing but proud of the job we have all done."
