Qualifying Ends With Contested Races in Cherokee

All county commission and school board seats will have contested races for the May 20 primary.

The May 20 primary will give Cherokee County residents the chance to vote out incumbents or keep their current batch of elected officials.

Qualifying for local and statewide races ended today at noon, and all but two local races are contested. At the state level, all incumbent Cherokee state representatives and senators qualified to run for re-election.

The only contested race for the Republican nomination in the May 20 primary will be in State House District 22, which covers portions of Cherokee, north Fulton and Forsyth County.
