5. On This Date in History: On Dec. 5, 1775, Gen. Henry Knox arrived at Ft. Ticonderoga, NY to begin transporting the fort's heavy artillery and other supplies to support the Siege of Boston. Over three months, Knox moved 60 tons of equipment from New York to Massachusetts. This "noble train of artillery" was a decisive factor in the British abandonment of Boston on March 17, 1776.
