Morning Briefing: Voter Registration Deadline

Here's what you need to know to start Wednesday off right.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service says the threat of rain has left the Canton area for the week. Today's high temperature is expected to be 68 degrees, followed by a low of 48 tonight.

2. In Case You Missed It: A tractor trailer carrying a load of garbage overturned on Hickory Flat Highway at Interstate 575 on Tuesday, leaving a foul mess that took hours to clean up. The driver has been taken to Kennestone Hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.

If you have a lot of old technology sitting around that's just taking up space, bring it to the Cherokee Administrative Building on Saturday and get it recycled at no cost to you!

3. Happening Now: Today is the last day you can register to vote in the November elections. In case you haven't done so yet and are unsure how to get everything taken care of in time, we have an article going live at noon that will answer all your questions!

4. Looking Ahead: The Georgia PTA will be hosting an information meeting about HB 1162, aka. "the charter school amendment" at 7:00 p.m. at Clark Creek Elementary's STEM Academy in Acworth. Read a preview of the meeting at 8 a.m.!

5. On This Date in History: On Oct. 9, 1888 the Washington Monument was opened to the public.
