5. On This Date in History: On Nov. 5, 1605, a plot to blow up the House of Lords in London was foiled, leading to the arrest and execution of a group of Catholics, including Guy Fawkes. "Guy Fawkes Night" is the United Kingdom's rough equivalent to the Fourth of July.
