Map of Redrawn School Board Posts Unveiled

1. As a result of Cherokee's growth between the 2000 and 2010 , posts will have to be redrawn. The school system on Thursday released a proposed map, which will be voted on at the Aug. 18 board meeting. Open the PDFs for the current map, the realigned map and other details.

2. More than 4,100 people have moved to Cherokee County since April 1, 2010, the fourth-biggest gain in the 10-county Atlanta region, the Atlanta Regional Commission announced Thursday.

3. Thursday, the Atlanta Regional Transportation Roundtable’s executive committee endorsed $6.56 billion worth of transportation projects. Four of the projects, the widening of State Road 140 among them, are in Cherokee. The committee will meet at 1 p.m. Aug. 15 to adopt the final constrained list. The meeting will be held at the Atlanta Regional Commission, Loudermilk Center for the Regional Community, 40 Courtland St. NE, Atlanta.

4. The 's annual Battle of the Badge volleyball benefit, which has provided financial assistance to children and families in need over the years, has been canceled. Click for details.
