Free Movies, Races, Cruise-In This Weekend

There are many special events going on in and around Canton this weekend.

If none of the events that made it on Friday's Get Out weekend planner strike your fancy, maybe one of these events happening in Canton Saturday will pique your interest!

Free Kids Movies at Canton Theatre

The Canton Theatre, which recently unveiled its state-of-the-art movie projection equipment, is offering an opportunity for local parents and children to view Disney's classic Davy Crockett film from 1955 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for free. The movies are being sponsored by Goodwin and Goodwin Attorneys at Law.

Po Boys Car Club Cruise In

Stop by the Po Boys Car Club Cruise at Riverstone starting at 3 p.m. Saturday to check out hundreds of classic cars, muscle cars, and souped up jalopies.

"Its pretty amazing that what started a few years ago is now called the largest cruise-in on the east coast," said Keith Cline, president of the car club. Cline said that over 320 cars came to last month's cruise in.

Races in Canton

Bicycle enthusiasts and athletic types might be drawn to the two races being held in the Canton area this weekend. The Blankets Creek Dirty Duathlon and Dwelling Dash 5 Mile Trail Run begins at 9 a.m. at Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Trails at 2330 Sixes Road in Canton.

Runners may be interested in the Out of the Park 5K being held at Boling Park at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. For more information on the event, call 678-982-3826.
