1. Friday, Cherokee County Environmental Health officials said a raccoon that recently attacked a local dog tested positive for rabies. The attack occurred at a residence on Hightower Trail in Ball Ground on May 3. There was no human exposure, and since the dog was current on its rabies vaccine, only a 45-day home quarantine is required.
