National Home School Honor Society Chapter Founded in Atlanta

Established on March 11, 2013, the Chi Xi Chapter of the Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society serves the Greater Northwest Atlanta area and is open to all homeschoolers willing to participate who meet the academic admission requirements.

Jade Glasgow, president of the Chi Xi Chapter and one of its founding members, stresses the benefits of being part of the group. “I like that the homeschool honor society gives us opportunities for leadership. It also gives us an opportunity to be recognized, as homeschoolers, for academic achievement,” she says.

Eta Sigma Alpha (ESA), founded in 1999, is the first national honor society for homeschooled high school students. Its purpose is to promote academic excellence, service, and leadership among home school students and raise awareness of homeschooling as a successful educational alternative to conventional schooling.

The founding members of the Chi Xi Chapter are determined to build on these fundamental tenets and encourage excellence among its members. The chapter will hold two club-sponsored community service projects each year, and each student is required to complete at least 10 hours of service annually. Organizational meetings will be held quarterly, and students are encouraged to establish leadership roles early and grow to take new responsibilities every year.

To be eligible to join the Chi Xi Chapter of the ESA, students must submit at least one of the following scores to a club sponsor:
