Cherokee edged by North Forsyth 34 - 27
The cool fall air has finally started to move in and friday night felt like a fall night as it should for high school football. A packed house welcomed the undefeated Cherokee Warriors and the first home opener of the year. The New Warriortron was unveiled and is a tremendous addition to Tommy Baker field.
North Forsyth came into friday night undefeated as well and both teams went head to toe all night long in a hard fought battle filled with big plays and hard hits.
North Forsyth jumped on the Warriors quickly with two TD runs by Zach Slaton (#21) Sophomore RB to make the score North Forsyth 14 - Cherokee 0 at the end of the first quarter.
Cherokee countered in the second quarter with two TD runs by Brittain Brown (#28) Sophomore RB, and after a missed extra point the halftime score was NF 14 - Cherokee 13.
Cherokee kept momentum going in the second half with a TD pass from Spencer Ashley (#4) Junior QB to Andrew Harris (#10) Senior WR after a heads up play by Harris to snatch a deflected ball out of the air.
NF then rattled off three scores with two TD passes by Harris Roberts (#13) Senior QB and another TD run by Slaton (#21) to go up 34 - 20. Cherokee fought hard to the end with a late TD after Ashley (#4) punched it in from inside the ten to make the final score:
North Forsyth 34 - Cherokee 27.
This friday Cherokee (2-1) heads to Lassiter (1-2) for the first regional battle of the year. NF travels to Chattahoochee (2-1) for their first regional battle as well.
