Cobb EMC directors receive national certification

Cobb EMC today announced that all 10 of the cooperative’s directors have received the Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) certificate from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

These certificates demonstrate Cobb EMC’s commitment to learning and strong board governance by keeping directors up-to-speed on the changing environment of the electric utility industry. Overall, certification is designed to benefit Cobb EMC members by keeping the cooperative’s directors engaged and informed to better protect the long-term interests of members.

To earn this prestigious certification, a director must attend classes and complete learning assessments of the program’s five core pillars: director duties and liabilities, understanding the electric business, board roles and relationships, strategic planning and financial decision making.

Additionally, David McClellan and Tripper Sharp, board members for Cobb EMC’s District 4 and District 5, have also received NRECA’s Board Leadership certificate, which recognizes individuals who have completed 10 credits in advanced, issues-oriented courses after becoming a CCD.
