Summits Wayside Tavern

It's a great summer hangout for wings and a cold beer.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in, but we have a better idea. Each week Canton-Sixes Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby worth checking out. Here’s this week’s choice.

Summits Wayside Tavern

Overview: When you hear the word "tavern," you think of a bar or casual neighborhood hangout. That’s the atmosphere of Summits. It’s a great place to enjoy a cold beer and a good meal. It has weekly special pint nights and great bands on the weekends, as well as an extensive beer list.

Décor: The tavern is casual and friendly. Flags and beer signs cover the walls and ceiling. There’s a game room to keep the kids busy. You can sit at the bar or in one of the many booths or at the tables. There’s room for large groups or parties. Summits has seating outside for when the weather is nice. Be sure to check out its website for events and specials.

Entrees: The food is good, and there are many items to choose from. Summits has an extensive menu including chicken wings, sandwiches, burgers, fajitas, salads and full dinner entrees. My choices were the spinach-and-mushroom flatbread pizza, the fried grouper entrée and the chicken Philly sandwich. They were all good, although the flatbread could have been a little crispier. The chicken wings are good, especially on pint night. Nothing's better than some spicy wings and a cold beer.

Prices: Entrees range from $7 to $13.

Service: Service is friendly and prompt. On the weekends you may have to wait for a table, but it won’t seem long once you grab a beer and some homemade potato chips.

Hours: Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to midnight.

Location: 2990 Eagle Drive, Woodstock 30189

Phone: 770-924-5315
