'Entrepreneur Summit' Attracts Dozens of Local Business Owners

The efforts to promote entrepreneurship in Snellville are gaining steam, and word is getting out that our city is the place to be for entrepreneurs.

Snellville's second Entrepreneur Summit was another huge hit.

With around 60 business owners in attendance, the city-sponsored event showed off the city's advanced economic development plan, one that is committed to turning Snellville into the go-to city for entrepreneurs.

In fact, Economic Development director Eric Van Otteren received a call recently from a man living in Canada. He found the city's online Business Toolbox, according to Van Otteren, and was intrigued to find a city that was so devoted to fostering an entrepreneurial atmostphere. Out of all the places he considered settling, Snellville appealed to him most.

Others have already made their way here, like Eric and Ruby Montgomery. They recently opened up a family-friendly entertainment venue called Expose in the Fountain Square shopping center that will be similar to Duluth's Eddie Owens theater.

Aside from informing business owners of what Snellville has to offer them, this most recent summit taught local entrepreneurs the ins and outs of neuromarketing, a psychological approach to sales and marketing, taught by business guru Dennis Daniels.

"Everyone walked away benefiting from what they heard," said Van Otteren. "From the business owners perspective, I believe Dennis shared things that really got them thinking, offering a new perspective of what their marketing message might look like."

The next Entrepreneur Summit is scheduled for April 13.
