Tavern to Celebrate Opening Today

If you live within a 5-mile radius of the Sixes Tavern and you've had too much to drink, a bus will transport you home.

Jim Torchia and Mark Celello opened the Sixes Tavern Bar & Grille on Nov. 12, but a ribbon cutting is planned for 10:30 a.m. today. Canton-Sixes Patch recently caught up with manager assistant/bartender Sharon Rodgers. Here's what she had to say.

Patch: Tell us about Sixes Tavern.

Tavern: I would say (it's) the newest hot spot for family, friends and tons of fun.

Patch: From clientele to experience, what can patrons expect when they come here?

Tavern: We actually cater to all age groups. We have a kid friendly menu. We have a lunch menu. We also have our dinner—a good selection of foods that includes salads, burgers, sandwiches and steaks from the grill. The menu is a full service menu. It's like a white tablecloth service. And then at 9 o'clock is our nightlife.

Patch: How is Sixes Tavern different from similar establishments? What does it offer that no one else does?

Tavern: A beautiful, high-tech bar encased in copper with sports memorabilia and music memorabilia from all over the world—signed pictures from Muhammad Ali, Brett Favre signed helmet, Black Crows signature guitar, Motley Crew. We have 21 50-inch televisions. We offer all sports packages, such as (the) SEC network, NCAA football, NFL football. Each individual TV can be turned to accommodate the customer. We also offer a full enclosed patio. We have 16 tables that seat 64 people and the patio area is heated. We are a non-smoking facility. We offer complimentary WiFi.

Patch: In scouting potential locations for Sixes Tavern, how did you settle on the Sixes Road corridor? Why did you settle on the Sixes Road corridor?

Tavern: That the owner decided on. He lives down the street. The owner is local and thought this would be a prime spot, which it is.

Patch: Outisde of Cherokee, folks wouldn't necessarily agree with the sentiment that this is a prime spot.

Tavern: Here's something that really perks everybody's ears. We have a bus, the Sixes bus, that will come pick you up and take you back home free of charge if you live within a 5-mile radius. And that's groups of four or more for pick up. So even if you drive here and you had too much to drink, we take you home within a 5-mile radius.

Patch: What is your vision for Sixes Tavern?

Tavern: To be the most highly sought after tavern in Cherokee County.

Patch: What is the price point?

Tavern: If you're talking lunch or dinner, $10 to $30. Your kids menu is less. Full service bar with selection of multiple selection of draft beers and an even more expansive selection of bottled beer.

Patch: Who is your target demographic?

Tavern: I would say a median of probably 30 to 70 years old.

Patch: You opened on Nov. 12. On average, what has the estimated daily traffic at Sixes Tavern been?

Tavern: Peak hours are going to be happy hour from 3 to 7 o'clock and then again from 9 to close daily. Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night are slammed in here. It's high traffic.

Patch: What can people expect from the ribbon cutting?

Tavern: They're going to have a confectionery tray of refreshments and coffee (from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.)

Patch: Anything else you want people to know?

Tavern: We're talking about (having) ladies' night. We offer a specialty cocktail menu. We do offer Sixes late night from 10 to close. We offer small appetizer finger food products.
