A national metal processing company that has offices in Kennesaw plans to relocate its operations from Cobb to Cherokee County.

Midwest Metal Corporation will move its offices from Shiloh Road in Kennesaw to southwest Cherokee.

The news was announced on Wednesday during an economic development forum hosted by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development.

The announcement was made by Steve Holcomb, the chair of the Cherokee County Development Authority.

Holcomb said the company will move into the Cherokee Commerce Center on Highway 92 at Interstate 75 in southwest Cherokee, which is being developed by Majestic Realty.

Holcomb added the company's Cobb office is around 23,000 square feet and hopes to expand to 49,000 square feet when it moves to Cherokee.

"It's going to be a great project there," Holcomb said.

Midwest Metals is a major supplier "to aluminum mills of segregated aluminum scrap, mixed low copper scrap, painted siding, litho and used beverage cans," according to its website.
