Inalfa Move to Cherokee Named Deal of the Year

Inalfa Roof System's plans to open a plant in the county was recognized by the Georgia Economic Developers Association.

A company's move to bring 300 new jobs to Cherokee County was recognized across the state in Macon on Thursday.

The Georgia Economic Developers Association presented Inalfa Roof Systems and the Cherokee Office of Economic Development with its 2013 Deal of the Year Award in the Large Community category.

The award was given during GEDA's annual awards ceremony, and Gov. Nathan Deal was on hand to recognize winners.

Inalfa manufactures vehicle roofing systems for the automobile industry. The company's move to Cherokee County will be a $28 million investment and provide an additional 300 jobs to the county.

Inalfa will open the plant within the Cherokee 75 Corporate Park development, located on Highway 92 about two miles east of Interstate 75.

“The Inalfa project is a testament of the strength and benefit of local and state partnerships,” said COED Chairman Marshall Day.

COED President Misti Martin added the project was an example of " teamwork."

"Had it not been for the collaboration between the community, Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Power, Rooker, CBRE and others, this project would have located elsewhere," she added.

The award recognizes "outstanding achievement" in the move to or expansion in the state that includes community support in the arenas of financial assistance and help in the required permitting process, workforce development and financial support at the state level, according to GEDA's website.
