Aramark Wants More Cherokee Custodians

Aramark will hold a job fair on Thursday at the former Chapman Intermediate School in Towne Lake.

The company that's been tasked to manage custodians in the Cherokee County School District will hold a job fair later this week.

Aramark will hold an education job fair from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at the former Chapman Intermediate School.

The company is looking to hire more custodians to clean and maintain district schools and facilities.

The school, which closed at the end of the 2012-13 school year and is now part of the Etowah High School campus, is located at 6565 Putnam Ford Road, Woodstock, GA 30189.

The school board in July voted 6-1, with District 1 member Kelly Marlow opposing, to outsource its custodial staff to the national company.

The move allowed Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo to execute a contract with Aramark, which will be around $5.33 million. Petruzielo said the company plans to offer full-time jobs to all 231 custodial positions, which also includes insurance benefits.
