New ZIP Codes Coming

The changes will take place on July 1.

More than 1,000 Canton residents and businesses will get new ZIP codes come July 1.

That's when the will implement what it is calling a "ZIP Code realignment" for 1,104 residential and 80 business customers who are currently in ZIP 30114.

Those customers, all of whom are south and east of the Etowah River and east of Interstate 575, will switch to ZIP 30115. No one else will be affected by the change.

How do you feel about the ZIP code changes? Tell us in the comment box below.

"Realigning these ZIP Codes will geographically join two delivery routes with others in 30115 allowing for a more efficient line of travel for letter carriers to service customers in this area," spokesman Michael Miles said in a statement this evening.

Customers do not have have to complete a change-of-address order with the Postal Service.

"USPS internal processes will automatically update customer addresses," Miles said.

Can you provide a map showing the areas of code change?

Hi, KaTee! The U.S. Postal Service has not provided a map, but they did say that customers who live south and east of the Etowah River and east of Interstate 575 will switch to ZIP 30115.

So then Holly Springs which is 30115 will become 30114, is that right?
Rodney Thrash May 30, 2012 at 11:10 PM
Thanks for your question, Wanda. This only affects 1,104 residential and 80 business customers who currently live in ZIP 30114. They will switch to ZIP 30115.

Anotheup with example of the tail wagging the dog. All trucks leave from the same building. This could be handled inside the sorting area. Does anyone think of the cost for letterhead, envelopes, business cards, bank checks, rubber stamps let alone announcing the change to everyone you know or do business with? And we put up with it !!! Shame on us.

It would be great if those of us who live in the Holly Springs city limits and pay city taxes could have a Holly Springs zip code instead of having to borrow the Canton 30115 one. Even though we are allowed to use Holly Springs as our mailing address, since the zip is Canton, it gets confusing when you're doing business, and when the zip is entered into the computers Canton comes up, but your address shows Holly Springs.

Um, apparently I am affected - I just stumbled upon this article. Why weren't we notified by the Post Office about the change?
