Air Show, River Cleanup on Saturday

2. A controversial fire district ordinance intended to help the city meet some of its long-term fire service needs is a tax, not a fee as some city officials thought. Mayor Gene Hobgood said it is time to go back to the drawing board.

3. Head to from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for the American Heroes Air Show, which organizers describe as "the nation’s premier admission-free helicopter-only aviation event dedicated to educating the public about the unique capabilities of helicopters in law enforcement, fire service, public/private EMS, homeland defense and national security." At 11 a.m., the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service will conduct a special Naturalization Ceremony for foreign born members of the U.S. Military and others as they become citizens. 4. Also on Saturday, volunteers will clean up the Etowah River. Join them at  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will receive breakfast, lunch and T-shirts.
