Scenes From 'Paula Peril' Filmed in Canton

The trailer of an independent movie was filmed in Canton last month. 

That's according to the Cherokee Office of Economic Development, which announced the news on Thursday.

The official trailer of The Adventures of Paula Peril, produced by Atlanta-based Exit Left Media and Atlantis Studios, was shot in Canton during the weekend of Oct. 19, according to CoED's news release.

CoED and New Life Casting both help with the production. The new footage include scenes that were filmed inside the Cherokee County School District offices and at Canton Textile Mills. 

Marshall Day, chair of CoED's board of directors, said he was "pleased our staff was able to find a location in our database that fit the requirements for this project."

"COED has been very busy with scouts for major motion pictures as well as directors for independent films and commercials," he added. "We hope to continue to raise awareness that Cherokee County is a great place for film and video productions."

The movie stars Valerie Perez as Paula Peril and includes co-stars Stephen Hanthorn, Marla Malcom and James Conner. New footage was created by director Jason Winn, and produced by Eric Pai, Chris Shulte and Exit Left Media. 

The Adventures of Paula Peril is based upon the Paula Peril comic book series, and is the first movie to be distributed via production partners Fairway Film Alliance.
