Canton Festival of the Arts

This year’s festival promises a broad array of activities for every age and interest. The popular juried art exhibit returns and is expected to include more the fifty fine artists from across the southeast, including popular local water colorists Elly Hobgood and Brenda Harris Tustian. This year also marks the second year for the Festival’s Literary Fair, which will feature nationally acclaimed authors during both days of the event – as well as several regional poets, writers and children’s authors. A new addition will allow visitors to learn more about the city with self-guided Walking Tours of Historical Downtown Canton. Brochures with a map and information about the homes and buildings will be available at the festival’s information booth.

Other events include hands-on children’s art activities, an Arts Walk and the return of the popular Serenity Garden area where visitors can enjoy numerous demonstrations, including fascinating topics such as beekeeping. A wide variety of plants and natural products will also be available for sale. Each evening of the festival will come to an exciting close, as the Cherokee Theater Company takes to the stage for live performances.

Festival admission is free, and complimentary parking is conveniently located behind City Hall and other local city lots. Please contact the Cherokee Arts Center at 770.704.6244 or visit www.cherokeearts.org to learn more about this exciting event or learn how you can donate your time as a festival volunteer.
