Barefoot in the Park

Music and theatre, fresh produce and herbs and a small town's old-fashion celebration of its history are just some of the many things to do around Canton.

Why Go: The market promotes local farmers and local artisans. All produce is Georgia grown and all items sold by artisans are handcrafted. This is opening day for the market's summer season, so stop by and see what's growing.

Where/When: Falany Performing Arts Center at Reinhardt, 7:30 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: You won't want to miss the unique blend of harmony, energy and enthusiasm when this Marietta-based chorus returns to the Falany stage.

4. HOORAY FOR HERBS-MASTER GARDENERS SEMINAR

Where/When: , Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: You will learn how to plan and plant an herb garden and to integrate herbs into an existing garden. Seating is limited so please call the at 770-479-0418 to reserve a spot.

5. WOODSTOCK SUMMER CONCERT-EDWIN MCCAIN

Where/When: The Park at City Center, Woodstock, 7:30 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: National recording artist Edwin McCain has been stirring up Southern soul for more 20 years with hits like "I'll Be" and "I Could Not Ask For More". With a new album set to be released in August, McCain and his band will certainly rock Woodstock for the night with some old and some new.

6. BALL GROUND HERITAGE DAYS FESTIVAL

Where/When: City Park, Ball Ground, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy an old-fashioned festival and parade in a small town with a rich heritage. The event kicks off with a parade right through downtown Ball Ground along with a business expo, entertainment, food, children's activities, prizes and dancing in the park.
