UPDATE: Water Main Break Causes Road Closure

The break occurred on Thursday evening, affecting 20 homes near Harmon Field and keeping repair crews busy for most of the night.

UPDATE (9:45 p.m.): Patch has talked to Mayor Gene Hobgood, who has made it to the scene of the water main break.

Hobgdood said that "around 20 homes" are currently without water due to the broken water main, which runs down the heart of Scott Mill Road.

The road itself is of concrete construction, not asphalt, so crews are having to use jackhammers to get through to the water main.

According to the Utility Partners crew at the scene, repairing the burst water main will keep them, "working through most of the night."

Alexander Street remains closed, as well as Scott Mill Road between Marietta Road and East Killian Street.
