Water Disruptions for Some Cantonites Next Week

Water system improvements will cause outages and a boil water advisory for some residents on Tuesday.

UPDATE (10:00 a.m. Tuesday): Due to poor weather, the water system improvements have been postponed to Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: The City of Canton Engineering Department will be working on water system improvements next week, which will mean service disruptions and boil water advisories for some residents.

Residents in the Mountain View, Hidden Branches, Hillcrest and Cherokee Outlook subdivisions, including areas south and east of those subdivisions, will lose water from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 due to the improvement work.

If weather does not allow the work to begin Tuesday, it will be completed either on Wednesday or Thursday.

After water service is restored to these areas, a boil water advisory will be in effect until residents are notified that everything is back to normal. This usually takes about 24 hours. Affected residents will need to boil all water for one minute to kill potentially harmful bacteria.
