Why Go: The royal wedding is behind us and it's time for Cherokee ladies to show off their hats–American style! Dress up like you're really at Churchill Downs, place a bet or two on your favorite horse, eat, drink and be merry. Watch the Derby on big screens, and bid on items in a silent auction. This annual event is sponsored by the in a unique Cherokee landmark.

Why Go: It's the best of local bluegrass with the Jot 'Em Down Boys. Can't help but be a foot-stompin' good time.

4. CHEROKEE INDIAN FESTIVAL AND MOTHER'S DAY POWWOW
Where/When: , Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Why Go: Honor Mother's Day watching beautiful Native American dance competitions, browsing through American Indian arts and crafts booths and enjoying the taste of Native American cuisine.
Pricing: $10 for adults; $5, children; free, ages 5 and younger.
Where/When: Cherokee County Recreation Center/South Annex, Woodstock, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: This event will showcase products and services of interest to the senior community. There will be health screenings, demonstrations, entertainment, food, Mary Kay makeovers, more than 70 exhibitors, door prize drawings every 30 minutes and free bingo all day. The event is co-sponsored by Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) and Canton Cherokee Triad.
