Search for Kidnapped Woman Continues, Thousands Expected to Rally for Charters

Georgia Charter Schools Association spokesman Seth Coleman said the non-profit advocacy group expects "a crowd of thousands" at a 10:30 a.m. rally on the Washington Street side of the Georgia State Capitol. Monday, the state Supreme Court said only local school districts could create charter schools. That 4-3 decision may derail plans for Cherokee Charter Academy and the 995 students who learned Saturday that they would be part of the school's inaugural class. The county's first charter school was approved by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission after the Cherokee County School District denied its application.
