The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will continue working to repair damaged sections of two Cherokee County highways this week.
Between Tuesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., GDOT crews will be working on trouble spots on Highway 5 Business and Highway 20 using the deep patching method.
Instead of shutting down a section of highway and performing work on asphalt that has severely deteriorated, the deep patching method is a rolling repair that fixes small trouble spots before they become more serious.
According to a GDOT release, this method is much less expensive than other repair methods without sacrificing the quality of work performed.
