MUST Cherokee Relocating Within Canton

The ministry's new facility is more modern and will allow clients greater personal space and dignity than the current facility allows.

MUST Ministries Cherokee Program Services will soon be doing its work in a new home.

Next month, the organization will relocate from its current headquarters at 141-B Marietta Rd. to a state-of-the-art facility at 111 Brown Industrial Pkwy. Construction on the new building is substantially complete. New furniture and electronic services are currently being installed at the new location.

"The new building will help us assist our clients with more dignity and more effectively," said Cherokee Program Services Program Director Kendall Jones. "Bigger waiting area means more people can be served but also served safely."

At the current location, the cramped quarters make personal space a precious commodity, and due to fire regulations, many clients must wait outdoors on a ramp that, "resembles Interstate 285 during rush hour," Jones said.

Once the new facility becomes operational on May 4, clients will enjoy not only a more comfortable waiting area but a more private interview experience. At the current building, the interview room is a large space broken into individual cubicles, which gives very little privacy for people retelling very difficult life experiences to the ministry workers. The new building will have individual interview rooms, so the process will be much less open to outsiders.

The Brown Industrial Parkway location boasts of modern food and clothing distribution stations that will allow for a more efficient distribution of goods and movement of clients through the process.

Jones said that, although this move has been in the works for several years, the capital building fundraising campaign for the new location was completed at a faster-than-normal pace.

"This has certainly not been just MUST," he said. "We couldn't have done it without everyone's assistance." Jones thanked private citizens and businesses that contributed to the campaign, and local government officials who helped to streamline the process.

The new MUST Ministries Cherokee Program Services building will hold its grand opening on May 16.
