Morning Briefing: Who'll Stop the Rain?

Here's what's going on in Canton this Monday.

1. Weather: Remember how beautiful it was Sunday? Cherish those memories, as most of this week will be wet and cold. The National Weather Service predicts showers and possibly a thunderstorm in our area this afternoon, with a high of 48 degrees. Rain will persist tonight, and the temperature will dip to 42 degrees. Check out the extended forecast for our area.

2. In Case You Missed It: A newly-proposed charter school that would be based in Forsyth County plans to avail itself to all Georgia students. Find out more about the school's proposals here.

3. Happening Now: You're probably about to take the kids to school or yourself to work. Don't you wish you could check traffic before you left? Now you can! Check out this awesome Mapquest widget and avoid traffic hassles this morning.

4. Looking Ahead: Come back at 9 a.m. to see the names of Canton college kids who made the grade last semester and were included in their schools' honors lists. Congratulations to all our scholars and good luck this semester!

5. On This Date in History: On Feb. 25, 1870, Mississippi Republican Senator Hiram Rhodes Revels is sworn into office. Revels is the first African-American to sit in Congress.
