The National Weather Service predicts showers and possibly a thunderstorm in our area this afternoon, with a high of 48 degrees. Rain will persist tonight, and the temperature will dip to 42 degrees. 5. On This Date in History: On Feb. 25, 1870, Mississippi Republican Senator Hiram Rhodes Revels is sworn into office. Revels is the first African-American to sit in Congress.
