Morning Briefing: School-By-School Writing Test Results

Here's what's happening in Canton this Wednesday.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting mostly cloudy skies over Canton this Wednesday, with a high temperature of around 65 degrees. Tonight, there is a 60 percent chance of showers after 5 a.m. Thursday. The low tonight should be roughly 45 degrees.

2. In Case You Missed It: Cherokee County middle schools saw a slight drop in their individual average scores for the eighth grade writing assessment in 2013. Despite the dip, 92 percent of Cherokee eighth graders met or exceeded the standard on the writing assessment, which was an improvement over 2012.

3. Happening Now: The Canton Police Department is helping citizens be more aware of crime in the area by putting incident reports on a map that is posted online. This new tool also allows citizens to submit tips on open cases.

5. On This Date in History: On April 3, 1882, notorious outlaw Jesse James is murdered in his home by Robert Ford. According to the legend, James was standing on a chair to adjust a crooked picture in his home when Ford shot James from behind.
