Here's what's happening in Canton this Thursday.

1. Weather: The patchy fog you may or may not experience during your commute this morning should be gone by 8 a.m., says the National Weather Service. After the fog burns off, look for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature around 81 degrees. Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies and a low around 60 degrees.

2. In Case You Missed It: The Canton Police Department is crediting the public for helping them zero in on a suspect in the Great Sky burglaries. .

The boil water advisory that went into effect Monday evening due to a water main break on Marietta Road was lifted yesterday afternoon. See a map of the formerly affected area here.

3. Happening Now: Parts of Heritage Park have been re-opened since flood waters closed the area down Sunday afternoon, but the grass may just now be dry enough to cut. Get the latest updates on the park at 9 a.m.

4. Looking Ahead: Did you know that the big ribbon cutting for the new Cherokee Aquatic Center is at 10 a.m.? If you can't make the festivities, don't fret! The center doesn't officially open until Saturday.

5. On This Date in History: On May 9, 1671, noted Irish rogue and army officer Thomas Blood attempted to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. After a long period of befriending the keeper of the jewels, Blood and his henchmen subdued the guard when he was caught unawares, cut and hammered the jewels to fit them in their bags, and tried to escape before the alarm was raised. Blood's party was caught just before reaching the Iron Gate. Instead of being executed for this act, Blood was given a full pardon by the king and awarded land in his native Ireland.
