Compost, Vermiculture and Mushrooms
When: Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Cherokee County Senior Center in Canton. Call the Extension office at 770-479-0418 to register. Early registration is encouraged.
Deal: Learn to make your own compost and take home a free mushroom garden you make. All classes are free unless otherwise noted.

Gold Panning
When: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers allows panners on Blankets Creek and Sixes Creek to pan for gold year-round. You must use a pan and shovel only. Call the Corps of Engineers at 678-721-6700 for more information.
Deal: Panning is free, and you get to keep your gold. You can order a gold map online for $40 to find more local panning areas.

Dance Lessons at Cherokee Rhythm & Smooth
When: Lessons are available Monday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Deal: Group lessons start at $10, so have fun and learn to dance as a family.

The Elm Street Arts Center Presents Peter Pan

When: Picking season at Berry Patch Farms is scheduled to begin June 15, but you will want to call 770-926-0561 to make sure the berries are ready.
Deal: You're charged by the pound for the berries. Buckets are provided.
