Cherokee's Sons of American Revolution Installs New Board Managers

Bob Rugg of Canton will lead as the board's president for the next two years.

The Cherokee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution has elected Bob Rugg of Canton to serve as its new president over the next two years. 

Other members elected to the board of managers include:

  • Dennis Jane - Vice President 
  • Jim Lance - Registrar
  • Jim Trayler - Secretary & Genealogist
  • Bob Faith - Treasurer & Immediate Past President

The Chapter fosters the knowledge and understanding of the nation's heritage of freedom through a number of projects in the local schools and community.

The SAR organization supports programs with the JROTC in all county high schools as well as county-wide Eagle Scout recognition efforts.

"We plan to grow the chapter by encouraging and adding some programs that will assist folks in their genealogy searches establishing direct ties to the Patriots of the Revolution," Rugg said of the organization's plans.

The chapter serves Cherokee, Cobb, Fulton, Pickens, Forsyth, Bartow, Dawson and Gordon counties. 

Meetings are held the second Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Rock Barn next to Canton Elementary School.
