Cherokee Under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Rain, high winds on their way to the area.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected across many counties in North and Central Georgia this evening.

The system, which is coming from the Midwest, will also be bringing a cold front, according to the National Weather Service.

Along with damaging wind and frequent lightning, there are also possibilities for large hail and isolated tornadoes, the weather service says.

The threat of severe weather will begin about 8 p.m. and continue overnight until the system exits Saturday morning.

After this system passes, there will be more chances for thunderstorms from Tuesday to Thursday.
