Cherokee Residents Graduate from Conservative Institute

Four Cherokee County residents recently graduated from the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute (CPLI). 

Thirteen candidates, who make up the class of 2014, were selected based on their professional credentials, references and application submissions.

"For the fourth year, some of the best and brightest conservative minds are part of the CPLI program," said State Rep. Edward Lindsey, CPLI chairman. "This class will emerge from the program well versed in policy issues facing Georgia, and they’ll be prepared to frame the debate and to test conventional thinking."

The CPLI program consists of four quarterly weekend working sessions. The kickoff session was held Friday, Oct. 11 when CPLI and the Georgia Public Policy Foundation (GPPF) co-hosted the 4th Annual Georgia Legislative Policy Forum.

The 2014 CPLI class membership includes:

  • Jacqueline Archer, candidate, Cherokee County Commission chair & Realtor, ERA Sunrise Realty – Canton
  • Brad Borum, manager of state and federal government for relations, Kaiser Permanente – Smyrna
  • Michael Caldwell, state representative, House District 20 – Woodstock
  • Scott Cole, Attorney, Hall Booth Smith, P.C. – Atlanta
  • Christy Ellerbee, goovernmental affairs, Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals – Monroe
  • James Freeman, general practice attorney (sole practitioner) – Macon
  • Jason Halliburton, CEO, Halliburton Strategic Affairs LLC – Marietta
  • Eric Hurst, Ph.D., senior data analyst and statistician, Culpepper and Associates – Roswell
  • Nancy Jester, governance consultant, Georgia Charter Schools Association – Dunwoody
  • Colin Martin, vice president of vovernmental affairs, Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce – Columbus
  • Jennings Palmer, director of community outreach, The Springer Opera House – Columbus
  • Brian Poole, Cherokee County commissioner & funeral director and manager, Woodstock Funeral Home – Woodstock
  • Capt. Frank Reynolds, Pickens County Sheriff’s Office – Canton
