In a snow storm update on its website at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, the city says Highway 140 was still closed due to icy conditions:
With improving road conditions throughout the City, not every street and roadway in the city is considered a safe thoroughfare. Public Officials are advising everyone to use caution for spots that are still snow-packed and iced over. As of mid-morning, Highway 140 is still closed and listed as having several icy spots, causing it to remain closed. GDOT will be re-treating the area this afternoon; it is our hopes that we will be able to have that area opened up by late afternoon.
