Attorney To Receive Benham Community Service Award

John Longino will receive the 15th annual Justice Robert Benham Community Service Award in February.

A Waleska attorney has been recognized for his community service in Cherokee County.

Rotary Club of Canton member John Longino has been chosen to receive the 15th annual Justice Robert Benham Community Service Award for the Ninth Judicial Administrative District.

The award will be presented by the Chief Justice's Committee on Professionalism and the State Bar of Georgia

Longino was nominated for the award by Rotary Club of Canton member Peter Gleichman. Gleichman, who received the award last year, praised Longino's role as a volunteer for children's academic and athletic endeavors in the Hispanic community.

Longino currently translates for clients at MUST Ministries, teaches each Friday to fourth-grade students at Hasty Elementary School and fifth- and sixth-graders at Canton Elementary School.

Longino and his wife Donna have also served as host parents for Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) student Alexandra Vasquez, a native of Colombia who attended Reinhardt University in 2012-13.

Longino will receive his award, along with recipients from the other judicial districts across the state, in a ceremony at the State Bar of Georgia's offices in Atlanta on Feb. 25, 2014.
