I appreciate history. You have to know where you have come from to know where you are going. My kids and I enjoy sandwiches at the R & M Hoagie shop. Part of the experience is the walls laden with countless photographs recording Canton’s history. As the seat of the county, Canton has an interesting, anchoring dynamic and a distinct character that should be cherished. The renovated buildings have merged their history and created a modern day Mayberry that is family friendly. The challenge, as I see it, beyond the parking, is helping vacant spaces join the vibrant shops and boutiques that will further the downtown’s draw.
