9-11 heroes remembered

On Sunday September 15, 2013 the Boy Scouts of Troop 6410 participated in a ceremony to honor first responders from the local community and to remember the fallen from 9-11-2011. The ceremony was hosted by Woodstock Church of Christ. Attendees included many local firemen and emergency medical personnel as well as the Mayor of Woodstock, Donnie Henriques.  Troop 6410 was joined by fellow Scouts from Troop 994, Woodstock High School Color Guard and a local JROTC from Marietta.

For the boys of Troop 6410 this was very moving as most of the Scouts were born within a few months of the events of 9-11. For a few this was the first time they had seen so many of the images from that tragic day. This opened the door great conversation and offered a chance to learn more about what happened some 12 years ago.  As scouts, the boys are constantly required to learn about things that shape their community and what it means to be a citizen. They felt honored to be involved in such a momentous ceremony.
