Today is Last Day For House District 22 Early Voting
Residents can vote today between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Cherokee County elections office in downtown Canton.
Today is the last day residents will be able to vote early in the Jan. 7 special election to fill the Georgia House District 22 seat.
Residents who live in the district can vote today between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Cherokee County Elections and Voter Registration office.
The office is at 400 East Main Street in downtown Canton.
Four Cherokee Republicans — Cherokee County residents Meagan Biello, Jeff Duncan, Nate Cochran and Sam Moore — are all vying to become the next elected official to represent the district, which includes portion of Cherokee, Forsyth and north Fulton counties.
The seat became vacant with the passing of former State Rep. Calvin Hill (R-Hickory Flat), who died after a battle with leukemia.
Precincts covered in the special election include Avery, Ball Ground, Bradshaw, Conns Creek, Free Home, Hickory Flat, Hightower, Macedonia, Union Hill and Univeter.
No voting will be held on Monday and all precincts in the district will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for the election. A run-off has been tentatively set for Tuesday, Feb. 4.
