Reindeer Run Gives Back to Less Fortunate Children

The Service League of Cherokee County will hold its Reindeer Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday in downtown Canton.

Last-minute runners who want to squeeze in a race before the holidays can make the trek to Canton tomorrow morning.

The Service League of Cherokee County will hold its Reindeer Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run (also known as its 11th annual Run for the Children) on Saturday at Cannon Park. The fun run starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K gets underway at 8:30 a.m.

For those who registered early, pre-race registration packet pick-up will take place between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. tonight at the gazebo in Cannon Park.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the gazebo in the park and is $30 for the 5K and $15 for the fun run. The race starts and ends at the gazebo and will give runners and walkers the chance to view historic Canton up close and personal.

A $1,000 cash prize will be given to the Cherokee County school that can turn out the most race participants.

The race is one of the most popular fundraisers held by the league each year. Specifically, money raised helps the league provide necessities such as food, clothing, dental care, eyeglasses medical care and scholarships.
