Broaden your horizons by heading out to some of these interesting gatherings!

The networking site Meetup.com has attracted millions of people to its group-based social networking style. Thousands of people have met others with similar interests that never would have come into contact without the group.

Here are five Meetups happening in Cherokee County in the next few days that you should be aware of!

1. Cherokee Ballroom and Latin Dancers will be meeting at Cherokee Rhythm and Smooth on Reinhardt Parkway for a Friday Night Dance Party at 8:00 p.m. The weekly dances in this group are a great way to get to know people and work up a good sweat. There are also classes available through this group if you would like to improve your dancing skills.

2 Cherokee Business Network will meet at Chick-Fil-A on Highway 92 in Woodstock on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 7:45 a.m. for a networking session. There are several professional services represented at each meeting, so if you want to rub shoulders with some of the county's best businesses, you won't want to miss this breakfast!

3. Woodstock New-Age Metaphysics will hold a healing circle on Saturday, Aug. 24 at noon at Forever and a Day in Woodstock. If you need to cleanse your aura and get your mind and body aligned for the upcoming week, the healing circle is your ticket to wholeness.

4. Order of the Gray Wolf will be holding fencing drill and practice at the North Atlanta Fencing Center (in the same shopping center as Gondolier Pizza) in Woodstock on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. Members must bring protective equipment for the head, hands and chest. Participants in swordplay will be allowed to use practice weapons only, but authentic swords can be brought as part of "show and tell."

5. Knit-N-Knacks Classes will meet at Knit-N-Knacks on 8946 Cumming Hwy. in Canton on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. for its weekly sit-n-stitch event. The MeetUp is open to all knitters and crocheters to brainstorm new projects or just have a laugh with like-minded individuals. Supplies must be purchased from Knit-N-Knacks to participate.
