Cherokee GED Program Gets Boost From Art Studio

Paper.Scissors.Cake will hold a painting fundraiser for Cherokee Youth Works, an initiative coordinated by Cherokee FOCUS.

A Woodstock-based children's art studio is holding an event today to raise money for an initiative to help young people complete their high school education.

Paper.Scissors.Cake is inviting the public to come out and celebrate Studio Owner Adria Smith's birthday by raising money for the Cherokee Youth Works, a GED program targeting in-school and out-of-school youth between the ages of 16 and 21.

Coordinated by Cherokee FOCUS, the initiative helps these teens and young adults received their high school education, provides them with the skills they need to enter and remain in the workforce and other life skills.

The studio will hold the fundraiser at 4 p.m. today. The art studio's location is 6687 Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock. For $10, residents can paint on an 8x10 canvas, which can be taken with them once completed.
