The Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast is the premier event in Cherokee County that recognizes the legacy of one of America’s greatest civil rights icons.

For more than a decade, the Unity Breakfast has drawn hundreds of residents from all racial, political, social and religious backgrounds to promote unity among the citizens of the county.  

The theme for 2013 is  “Speaking With One Voice” This years’ event will also commemorate the 50thAnniversary of the American Civil Rights Movement.

Guests will enjoy a complimentary breakfast as well as performances by dynamic speakers, musical groups, and other performances.

The event is capped by highlighting the MLK Scholarship Fundraiser and presenting of the MLK Unity Award to an individual who has made a positive impact on the county by fostering harmonious racial and cultural relations.

The MLK UNITY Award was established in 1999 by Reverend Carl A. Moore, Sr., Pastor of Allen Temple AME Church in Woodstock, to recognize the contributions of an individual who has made a positive impact on the community by fostering harmonious racial and cultural relations.  

The award is presented duringAllen Temple AME Church’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast, held in January of each year.
