Teacher Appreciation, Local Meetings Scheduled

1. The man accused of killing a 19-year-old mother on Sunday was on probation when the shooting occured, and law enforcement officers said warrants had been issued for his arrest at the time.

2. The Canton City Council meets tomorrow night. Items on the agenda include discussion and possible resolution for the upcoming TSPLOST referendum, approval of an ordinance to delete the prohibition against knives in city parks and approval of the reservoir launch site lease.

3. The Cherokee County Board of Education, which usually meets on the third Thursday of every month, will not meet this week. The board instead will meet next Wednesday.
